What an automation is

An automation is a saved prompt that runs on a schedule. You write the instruction once, choose when it should run, and askROI carries it out on its own and leaves you the result. With Email Reports connected, it can email that result to you too.

The pattern behind every automation is simple: a trigger plus an action. The trigger is a time, like every weekday at 8am. The action is whatever you would have typed into a chat. Think of it as a standing instruction, the software version of "the usual, every morning."

This is one of the clearest shifts happening in AI right now. In its first wave, the assistant was reactive: it answered when asked. Now it is becoming proactive: it acts on a schedule and brings things to you. ChatGPT added scheduled tasks in January 2025, and Gemini added scheduled actions in June 2025. askROI's automations are our take on the same idea.

How to use automations in askROI
