Integrations are what turn a chat into something that works alongside you. Connect one tool you touch every day, then ask it to do something real.
For its first few years, the AI chatbot was a clever stranger. It could explain almost anything, but it had never seen your inbox, your team's Slack, or the document you were editing five minutes ago. Using it meant a lot of copying and pasting: you fetched the context, it gave an answer, and you carried that answer back to wherever the work actually lived.
That is changing fast, and integrations are the reason.
What an integration is
An integration is a secure, permission-based connection between askROI and another service you use, like Slack, GitHub, or Google Drive. Once you connect it, the assistant can look things up and take actions in that service for you, inside the same conversation.
Most modern integrations run on a shared standard called MCP, short for Model Context Protocol. The simplest way to picture it: MCP is USB-C for AI. Before USB-C, every device had its own cable. Before MCP, every link between an AI and an app had to be custom-built. MCP is the single plug that lets any assistant that speaks it connect to any tool that speaks it.
Here is the part worth knowing, because it tells you where this is going. Anthropic published MCP as an open standard on November 25, 2024. Since then, OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft have all added MCP support in agent or developer products. Those companies rarely agree on anything, so when they converge on one way to connect AI to the rest of your software, it is a sign the whole industry is moving in that direction.
What it means for you
You do not need to care about protocols. What you feel is the difference between an assistant that can talk about your work and one that can actually reach into it.
- You stop being the courier. No more copying a Slack thread into the chat, then pasting the summary back into Slack.
- Answers fit your situation instead of being generic, because the assistant can see the relevant doc, issue, or dashboard. Only what you connect, and only when you ask.
- One task, one place. "Find the contract in Drive, pull out the renewal date, and draft a reminder" happens in a single conversation.
How people use them
Once a tool is connected, you just ask in plain language:
- "Summarize the unread threads in #support from this week." (Slack)
- "What changed in the open pull requests since yesterday?" (GitHub)
- "Pull last week's signup funnel from PostHog and tell me where people drop off." (PostHog)
- "Find the planning doc I edited on Tuesday and list the action items." (Google Drive)
The assistant decides when a connected tool can help, uses it, and shows you what it did. You stay in the conversation instead of opening five tabs.
Where this is going
The interesting part is not any single connection. It is what happens when an assistant can move across all of them: read an incident in Linear, check the related pull requests in GitHub, then draft the update in Slack, from one request. This is expected to become normal quickly. Gartner estimates that 40 percent of enterprise apps will include task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026, up from less than 5 percent in 2025.
The direction is clear. Assistants are shifting from answering questions to doing work across the tools you already pay for.

First, the tools people use most are built in. Open the Integrations screen and you can connect Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, PostHog, Outlook, and more. For most of them you sign in once, approve the access you want to give, and askROI discovers the available tools automatically.
Second, you are not limited to our list. Because askROI speaks MCP, you can add any service that does too. Choose Custom Integration, give it a name and the server address, add an auth header if the service needs one, and test the connection before you save. Connections use HTTPS, and you decide which services to trust.
Once something is connected, you can switch it on or off for any chat from the Tools drawer. Connected tools also pair naturally with automations, so a report you ask for today can arrive on its own every morning.
