What you get
- Text in the chatCopy it wherever you need it. Keep chatting to adjust the tone, length, or wording.
How it works
- Name the account and period end, give both balances (bank and GL, GL and subledger, or each entity's side), and list the open items you know about.
- askROI's Reconcile accounts tool works the reconciliation in the chat: it lays out both sides to an adjusted balance, sorts each item into timing, adjustment required, or needs investigation, ages the open items, and flags what to escalate.
- Copy the reconciliation and the aging table into your workpapers, or keep chatting to add items or draft the adjusting entries.
What people use it for
- Bank reconciliationsoutstanding checks, deposits in transit, and unrecorded fees or interest, both sides to an adjusted balance.
- GL to subledgerfind why AR, AP, fixed assets, inventory, prepaids, or accruals do not match their detail.
- Intercompanycompare each entity's receivable and payable and find differences from timing, FX rates, or misclassification.
- Aged itemsput open items into 0 to 30, 31 to 60, 61 to 90, and 90 plus day buckets with an owner and next action.
Questions
- How does it categorize reconciling items?
- Into three groups: timing differences that clear on their own (outstanding checks, deposits in transit), items that need an adjusting entry (unrecorded fees, recording errors, missing or misclassified entries), and items that need investigation (unidentified, disputed, or aged differences).
- When does it recommend escalating?
- It uses example thresholds you can replace with your own: supervisor review for items over $10,000 or older than 60 days, controller review over $50,000 or 90 days, and no close while any unreconciled difference remains unexplained.
- How is this different from the AI Month-End Close Checklist?
- The close checklist plans every task across the close, day by day. This tool works one reconciliation in detail, item by item, and is the step the checklist points to when an account will not tie.
- What does it not do?
- It does not connect to your bank or accounting system, post journal entries, or give financial advice. It works from the balances and items you share, and a qualified finance professional should review the reconciliation before sign-off.
