Export formats
- Word document (.docx) Opens in Word, Pages, and Google Docs.
- PDF (.pdf) Opens anywhere and prints as laid out.

How it works
- Pick the ticket type, then give the issuer, the ticket number, the date and your reasons.
- askROI writes a one page letter that opens with your request, sets out your facts, and closes with what you are asking for, then builds the Word file.
- Check every detail, then send it yourself by the route printed on your ticket.
What people use it for
- A council ticket on your windscreen put your informal challenge in writing, with the PCN number and your reasons.
- A notice to owner in the post set out your reasons as a formal challenge, called a representation, and name the evidence you are sending.
- A private car park charge write to the company named on the ticket, kept apart from any council process.
- Listing your evidence mention your photos, permit or delivery note and the letter adds an enclosures line.
Questions
What is the difference between a council PCN and a private parking charge?
GOV.UK treats them separately. You challenge a council PCN with the council: informally if it was left on your car, and with a formal representation if you were sent a notice to owner. You challenge a private ticket with the company that issued it, and if it says no you can go to POPLA or the IAS, depending on the trade association it belongs to. A fixed penalty notice is challenged at a magistrates' court, so this letter is not the route for one.
How long do I have to challenge a PCN?
GOV.UK says you have 28 days to challenge a PCN, and if you challenge within 14 days and are rejected, you may only have to pay 50% of the fine. Some PCNs have different rules, so check the dates on your ticket. A private ticket has its own process, so check that ticket too.
Will it make up a reason for me?
No. The letter uses only the facts you give, exactly as you give them, and it does not add legal claims you did not make. A missing detail, such as your name or address, gets a clearly marked placeholder for you to fill in.
What does it not do?
It does not file the appeal, contact the council or the company, or decide the outcome, and it cannot promise your ticket will be cancelled. It is not legal advice.
Can I get it as a PDF instead?
Yes. Ask for a PDF and askROI converts it, so you can upload it to an appeal form or attach it to an email.
Is it free?
Yes. You can write an appeal letter on the free plan. Paid plans raise the usage limits and include more credits for Premium mode.
