What you get
- Text in the chatCopy it wherever you need it. Keep chatting to adjust the tone, length, or wording.
How it works
- Describe the process the way it runs today, paste an existing doc, or just name it. Include who does each part and the exceptions you know about.
- askROI's Document a process tool asks about any gaps, then writes the SOP: purpose and scope, a RACI matrix, a process flow, detailed steps with who, when, how, and the output of each, an exceptions table, and metrics.
- Copy the SOP into your wiki or handbook, or keep chatting to add a step, change an owner, or cover another exception.
What people use it for
- Knowledge that lives in one headwrite down a process before the person who knows it goes on leave.
- Onboardinggive new team members a step-by-step procedure instead of shadowing.
- Clarifying ownershipuse the RACI matrix to settle who does, owns, advises on, and hears about each step.
- Handling the unusual casescapture the "usually we do X, but sometimes Y" rules that trip people up.
- Operations and compliance reviewsa consistent document with an owner, a last updated date, and a review cadence.
Questions
- What is in the SOP?
- A header with the process owner, last updated date, and review cadence, then purpose, scope, a RACI matrix, a process flow, detailed steps (each with who, when, how, and what it produces), an exceptions and edge cases table, metrics with targets, and related documents.
- What is a RACI matrix?
- A table that lists, for each step, who is Responsible for doing it, who is Accountable for it, who is Consulted, and who is Informed. It is the fastest way to see where ownership is unclear.
- Does my description need to be complete?
- No. Start messy: tell it how the process works today and it structures it, asking about anything it needs. The exceptions are the most valuable part to include, and naming the people who do each step today helps get it right.
- How is this different from the AI Checklist Generator?
- The checklist generator makes a printable PDF of tick boxes grouped by phase, for running through a task. The SOP generator documents the whole process: why it exists, who owns each step, how to do it, and what to do when it goes off script.
- What does it not do?
- It does not produce a file or a drawn diagram: the SOP comes back as text in the chat, and the process flow is written as a simple text flowchart or a step list. It documents the process you describe; it does not decide your policies for you.
